The Basics of Our Skin
Some people don’t care, some people do. Here we provide you, the consumer, with a basic understanding of your facial skin, so at least you know what you are fixing, and where does the root of the problem lie.
Our skin can broadly be recognized to comprise of 3 main layers (in order from exterior to interior) – the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis layers. The following diagram shows the cross-section of the 3 layers.
Skin damage is largely due to a few factors:
- Bad air and humidity levels
- Constant exposure to intense sunlight and weather
- Malnutrition
All these factors contribute to the wear and dehydration of the skin, and as time passes, the damage takes permanence in the deeper layers of the hypodermis, and surface treatments are often insufficient to repair the damage.
The damaged and fragile skin becomes less tolerant to irritants and infection, and according to whichever lifestyle you may lead, continues to take in damage at an exponential scale.
